What are the risks associated with treating rebound flushing with intradermal Botox?

Doctor's Answers 2

There are methods out there that can help with the flushing. This includes:

  1. Ultracel Q+ — a latest generation HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) with its unique Linear 2mm handpiece. It is comfortable, fast, and pain-free even without the application of numbing cream.

  2. Sylfirm (a Silicon Valley micropulsed microneedling radiofrequency device) treatment —They target the tiny blood vessels in the skin to contract or ablate them, thereby alleviating the symptom of flushing.

How to permanently reduce the size of my masseter muscles if Botox is ineffective?

Thank you for your question. There's a couple of reasons why you could be "botox resistant". 1. Maybe the botox has worked very well and you do not have enlarged masseter muscles anymore, therefore, injecting more toxin will not shrink your jawline any further. 2. There are some people who develop antibodies to botox. You may need to use a different brand of toxin if your masseters are still hypertrophic. The only permanent ways to reduce your jawline are surgical. Either your muscle can be reduced or your mandible can be reduced or both. Hope this answers your question.

How likely will botox injected into the top lip and chin cause bone loss in the jaw?

The answer is not likely. It’s certain that Botox is a topic that has no relevance to the jaw, meaning the chin or mandible. There’s no effect on the mandible. The mandible tends to shrink due to atrophy. So as you get older, the mandible shrinks. Also, you tend to lose teeth and you lose other bone support. This shrinking of the mandible has been proven by CT scans. We know that the facial skeleton changes with age, it tends to get smaller and the mandible tends to lose its mass. It is unlikely that this is caused by Botox; it is just a natural ageing process.
