In Singapore, 17 people die from cardiovascular disease (heart diseases and stroke) every day. Did you know that in 2017, cardiovascular disease accounted for 30.1% of all deaths? [1]

Coronary heart disease is the most common type of heart disease in many industrialised countries. It happens when plaque builds up in your coronary artery, causing it to become narrow. This results in reduced blood flow, and thus oxygen supply to the heart. [2]

People with this condition often suffer from chest pains and shortness of breath.

To allow blood flow to more freely, a coronary angioplasty surgery is performed. This procedure uses tiny balloons or a tiny wire mesh tube called a stent to prop open arteries that are blocked. [3]

Watch the video to understand the coronary angioplasty surgery and find out who needs to undergo this procedure.
