How do glycolic acid and salicylic acid help with acne and acne scars?

Doctor's Answer

Both chemicals are more effective in helping with acne than acne scars.

They help to gently exfoliate the dead cells from the face to prevent them from clogging the oil glands.

Glycolic acid can also help to lighten the blemishes and discolouration after the acne has resolved.

For acne scars, there would possibly be subtle improvement from the use of higher concentration of glycolic acid peel.

However, if you have very deep acne scars, you would probably require treatment with fractional devices and/ or rejuran injections for better results.
