How can I get tightened pores, and what should be the frequency of treatment?

Pores can be tightened with various treatments. This can be divided into treatments with or without downtime. The carbon laser peel can help to reduce pore size without any downtime. This procedure can be repeated every 2 weeks for better results. If downtime can be tolerated, ablative lasers such as the fractional CO2 or RF microneedling with Intracel or Infini, can be used to produce better, longer lasting results. Typically the treatment can be repeated monthly. For both types of treatment, it is usually recommended to have 4-8 sessions done.

Should I go for nose threadlift or nose fillers in Singapore?

This will depend on your nose bridge. For those with a very flat nose bridge I generally recommend a combination treatment of nose fillers and nose threadlift. The nose threadlift on its own is great for nose contouring and definition, but as mentioned by Dr Chua has its own limitations in terms of volume and height. For those who already have a certain nose bridge height but are keen on improving and further enhancing the nose, the nose threadlift alone will be a good option. Most of the other pros and cons have been well listed by the other doctors.

Can nose fillers and nose threadlift be used together?

Yes, nose fillers and nose threadlift can be combined to give better results. This works very well in patients who have a very flat nose bridge or just needs that tiny bit of extra lift that the nose threadlift alone is unable to provide. The combined procedure results in a higher nose bridge and more enhanced nose contours and definition. However, not everyone will need a combined procedure. It really depends on your natural nose and desired outcome. It's best to consult your doctor before the treatment :) Hope this helps!

How do doctors determine how much chin fillers to give a patient?

Hi, this will depend on the natural anatomy of the patient. A weak/receding chin may need more fillers compared to someone who already has a good chin profile and just needs slight enhancement. As mentioned by Dr Wong, an experienced doctor with a good aesthetic eye will be able to tell roughly how much is needed. It is also important to discuss with your doctor your own expectations of how you would like your chin to look. Overdone chins tend to look either very sharp, lengthy or overtly heavy. If HA fillers were used, this can easily be dissolved to look more natural. Hope this helps!

Are there any effective treatments for burn scars?

this will depend on the type of scars sustained after the burn as mentioned by Dr Shane and Dr Winston. Hyperpigmented (dark) scars can be lightened with Q-Switch lasers. Raised scars can be reduced with steroid injection. To further blend in and reduce the appearance of the scar, ablative lasers can be used. Other types of scars may need surgical revision. It's best to let your doctor have a look at the scars so that he/she can formulate a treatment plan that suits your condition. Hope that helps!

How can I treat skin pigmentation on my lower legs?

A variety of conditions can cause brown pigmentation on the lower legs. It would be advisable to have a doctor have a look at it for proper assessment. Eczema on its own could worsen the condition and possibly leave dark marks known as Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH). Best way to go about it would be to keep the eczema under control with the use of moisturizers and/ steroid creams. Depending on the cause of the brown pigmentation, it can typically be treated by: Lightening creams Q- Switch Lasers Hope this helps!

Are facials recommended for big facial pores?

Pores are a major concern for many of my patients and can be quite tricky to treat. Instead of facials, another way to reduce pore size would be through the use of lasers: 1. Carbon laser peel The carbon laser peel is a laser procedure that works together with a thin layer of fine liquid carbon that is applied to the skin. When applied, the liquid carbon penetrates into the pores. As the laser is applied to the skin, the liquid carbon vaporises, reducing the pore size and removing bacteria and dirt along with it. This laser has no downtime and can be done every 2 weeks. 2.

What is the best skin whitening treatment for my underarm and inner thighs?

Dark underarms and inner thighs can be quite a concern for many of my patients. A combination of in- clinic treatments with topical de-pigmentation creams can help to lighten the underarm and inner thighs. In- clinic treatment can include pigment lasers (Q-Switch NDYag) and/or chemical peels to lighten these areas. Depending on your skin, typically, quite a few sessions (up to 5-10) may be required to get good results. Yes, as mentioned by Dr Ho, home remedies that contain acids may also cause irritation and inflammation that may worsen the dark patches in these areas so do be careful.

Which thread should I use for my nose threadlift?

Nose threadlift procedures, first introduced in Singapore a few years back, are very popular these days among both men and women looking to subtly enhance their appearances. The more commonly used nose threads by doctors are HSA-approved polydioxanone threads (also known in the market as PDO threads), which come in varying lengths and thickness. The number of nose threads you require will depend on several factors such as your existing nose structure, the degree of enhancement desired and, of course, cost considerations.

How long does Botox last for, and what is the cost of Botox in Singapore? Are there any side effects of Botox?

Botox typically lasts between 3-6 months for most patients The price depends on the charging practices of the clinic. Some clinics charge per area to be treated ( in this case crows feet), others charge per unit depending on how much you need after an assessment with a doctor. Apart from occasional bruising, side effects are usually rare. Unless injected into or too close to the wrong muscles, this can occasionally lead to an eyelid droop. Thus, it is important to have botox procedures done only by a qualified medical doctor.
