What is the most effective treatment for cervical cancer?

Doctor's Answer

For cervical cancer, it depends on the stage of cancer. In the early stages, surgery is enough to cure the patient.

As mentioned earlier, if the tumours are very small, microscopic, we can do something called a cone biopsy.

If the tumour is bigger, more than 2cm, we can do a hysterectomy or a trachelectomy if the patient is young.

But for stage 2 onwards, it gets more difficult, as the tumour may not be in one area anymore, it can be spread out and the patient will need chemoradiation.

And for stage 4, when cancer has affected other organs, it can be palliative already, there is going to be chemotherapy and nowadays, we try a new thing called immunotherapy as well.
