What is the best treatment to get rid of folliculitis?

Doctor's Answer

Without seeing the rashes, it is difficult to comment if what you have is recurrent acne or folliculitis as they can look very similar. With this occurring on the face too, I suspect that recurrent facial and truncal acne may be the cause.

For recurrent acne, oral antibiotics and oral isotretinoin are both good treatment options. Oral isotretinoin in general may give better long term control of the acne. In cases where this is persistent or recurrent, a low dose isotretinoin for maintenance may be a good option.

You should see your doctor/dermatologist to get a proper assessment of the bumps and discuss your concerns of recurrence with your doctor.
