Dear Ms Kay,

A positive sentinel lymph node biopsy is certainly something to worry
about. Once diagnosed as positive, it usually indicates the presence of
cancer cells within the lymphatic system and suggests that the cancer is
present and has also spread significantly. However, even with the presence
of cancer cells, the pathologist needs to determine what type of cancer it
is by performing further immunohistochemical studies. These will reveal
more information on the type of cancer and the possible origin. Based on
this information, the surgeon and oncology clinicians will formulate a
treatment plan, which may include surgical and other medical modalities.
Please discuss any pathology findings with your clinician thoroughly.

Best regards
Dr Quah
