What are the indications and contraindications for malocclusion type II and III if I plan to use Invisalign?

Doctor's Answer

Number one, don’t self-diagnose too much, because if you self-diagnose wrongly, you will treat yourself wrongly as well.

Ok, so what do the different classes mean?

  • Class I just means that everything is in perfect order
  • class II is where your upper teeth are more in front than your lower teeth
  • class III is reversed, so the lower teeth are in front of the upper teeth.

Class I, II, and III can be treated with Invisalign, not a problem.

Back 10-20 years ago, there were some doubts for class II or III cases, where we would not advise treating as they do involve more complexity and more things to be aware of.
