Can I feel the difference between a dental implant and my own teeth when I'm eating?

Doctor's Answer

That’s also a very good question. Implants are put in so that you can eat normally. Implants should generally not feel any different from your natural tooth because they’re really like natural teeth replacement.

However, if you’re a little bit more sensitive -- we know that the implant is actually stuck to your bone. It’s almost like screwing a screw into a table. It cannot bounce up and down.

Around the tooth, there’s actually a rubberised ligament so if you bite up and down your tooth, you can actually feel if you’re really sensitive. But it should not feel any different when you’re eating, the implant is supposed to help you eat.
