What's the difference between Invisalign and Zenyum?

Zenyum is a Singapore based company that has been operational in Singapore since September 2018, whereas Invisalign was the first aligner company to be established in Singapore many years back and is the most established aligner company in the market. For other clear aligners systems or braces in general, orthodontic treatment starts with a physical consultation with an orthodontist or dentist of your choosing, and they will advise you on what system is suitable for you and the ideal treatment plan for your case after a clinical examination with the assistance of X-rays and other records.

Why is Zenyum so cheap compared to other aligner brands?

Hi! As with all goods and services, there is always a variation in pricing between brands of any product. Zenyum is a Singapore based company has been operational in Singapore since September 2018, so it is a relatively new player to the market. To help you understand better, here is a summary about the Zenyum process:1) Customers fill out our survey to express their interest in Zenyum. They then send in pictures of their teeth to get pre-assessed by their council of dental experts. 2) Once approved, they have an initial consultation session at their partner clinic.

Should I be concerned about a back molar rotating late in orthodontic treatment? (photo)

Hi there, Not to worry, as long as your braces are still on, your orthodontist or dentist will be able to realign the molar for you pretty easily. From the image, the rotation looks rather mild and should be easily corrected. Do let your orthodontist know, perhaps he/she is working on other areas first and intends to align the molar soon. Hope this helps.

Can braces completely fix a gap without the need for dental implants?

Of course you can! That is one of the advantages of having braces treatment, we are able to close spaces that would otherwise require a dental implant/bridge/denture. This is one of the common reasons why my adult patients decide to have braces. There are other considerations with regards to the gap. For example, the gap is due a missing tooth that has been extracted a long time, the gap may be difficult to close. It could take a prolonged period of time to close the gap or if the bone in gap is very narrow, complete closure of the gap may not be possible.

Can I get braces if I have a dental crown?

Yes of course, braces (brackets) can be placed on teeth which have had crowns placed over them. There are special methods to ensure the bracket bonds to the crown, and braces treatment can proceed as with all other teeth. Unfortunately, there are some considerations when placing braces on crowns. The bracket on the crown will have a higher risk of breaking off compared to a bracket on a natural tooth. Also, upon removal, the glaze or shiny outer layer on the crown will be removed when the bracket is removed.

Is it possible to modify treatment midway through Invisalign treatment if I want to change the final results?

Of course you can always modify your treatment plan midway through Invisalign treatment. Good communication between your orthodontist/dentist is essential to successful treatment. There must be a reason for your clinician deciding on the final result of the clincheck. Overbite reduction is almost always an important goal of orthodontic treatment, and would usually not result an ageing profile.

How do dentists determine the amount of space needed to fix an overbite? (photos)

The decision to extract, or not to extract, for any case depends on several factors, such as the facial and lip profile (e. g. are the lips protruding?) the amount of overlap or crowding of the teeth, how much the teeth are flared forward with respect to the bone, etc. Patients with a substantial overjet would more often have lips that unable to close due to the teeth which are sticking out. In situations like this, extractions will result in a more aesthetic or pleasing outcome.

How do dentists formulate the best treatment plan for crooked and protruding teeth? (photo)

Treatment planning of every patient requires detailed assessment of the facial profile and features, together with the intra-oral features, such as the amount of crowding present, and if the front teeth are flared forward, etc. Together with analysis of your X-rays, your orthodontist will advise you what they feel is the treatment plan that will give you the most ideal result. Overlapping of the teeth (crowding) and flaring of the teeth forward means that there is a lack of space, which is why extractions of teeth to provide space have been proposed.

How effective is Invisalign for complex orthodontic cases? (photo)

Braces and Invisalign are all tools an orthodontist uses to treat patients. There are many factors which may lead to the decision of selecting one system over the other, such as cost, complexity of case, preference of the dentist for one system over the other (based on experience), etc. To be honest, the majority of my Asian patients are treated with extractions due to our facial profile and lip prominence. Rest assured, a case requiring extractions does not necessarily mean the case is complex.

How do I fix a crooked jaw and overbite? (photo)

Based on your photos, I am unable to assess the extent of your overbite. I do notice you have a lower jaw deviation to the left of your face. Braces or orthodontic treatment can definitely correct the alignment of the teeth and improve your overbite issue. It will not be able to change your facial profile or the crooked jaw, as this is a skeletal(bone) issue. Only jaw surgery will be able to correct the jaw deviation. Many people have slanted jaws which are not very noticeable. It really depends on how much it bothers you and how much you want to fix it.
