What dental treatments do dentists offer now in phase 2 as Singapore eases off the Coronavirus restrictions?

Doctor's Answers 1

We can pretty much offer all dental treatment required now. Anything that is very elective or optional we will try to wait for a little while because we prioritise all urgent cases and those with essential treatment needs. We are pretty much open for full dental services.

Is there such a thing as a dental implant specialist in Singapore?

The Singapore Dental Council does not list implant dentistry as a separate specialty. The specialties that train dentists for implant placement are oral & maxillofacial surgery, periodontics (gum) and even endodontics (root canal) fields. You can check if your dentist is listed on the specialist dental register here. The Dental Specialist Accreditation Board (DSAB) is the body that is responsible for the accreditation and listing of dental specialists in Singapore. This does not mean that general dentists (non-specialists) are prohibited from placing implants.

How can I claim Medisave for dental treatment in Singapore?

I would advise you to find a dentist to get a thorough dental examination. He/She would be able to advise and plan a list of dental procedures that you will need to improve your oral health. If cost is a concern, you can always have the attending dentist present a treatment plan to you before proceeding on with any dental treatment. This would also prevent miscommunication.
