How do I determine if the white bump in my ear is a mere pimple or a malignant cyst?

Doctor's Answers 1

Thank you for the question.

Unfortunately, I think the picture is not clear enough for a proper assessment. In general, if the bump is due to a pimple, it will come and go and is not usually persistent. A cyst or a malignant growth is usually persistent and may slowly increase in size.

It is best for you to see your doctor for a proper assessment if the bump is persistent.

Why am I getting little white bumps on my tattoo? (photo)

Hi, The white bumps are likely milia (“oil” seeds) forming just beneath the skin. This may have occurred due to surface injury caused by the tattooing process. A close physical examination by your doctor is needed to confirm the diagnosis. After confirming the diagnosis, the milia may be removed by making a small nick on the skin and extracting the milia seed under topical anaesthesia. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the question. Both acnevulgaris and acne rosacea can present with pimple like bumps on the face. Acne rosacea often occus in the middle age adults. There is often associated symptoms of facial redness and flushing. This is often aggravated by sun exposure and with alcohol intake. Fine blood vessels called telangiectasia can be seen more prominently on the face. Acne vulgaris is the common acne that occurs in adolescents. It tends to occur in teenage years although it can also persist in some people into adulthood.
