How do teeth aligners cause teeth movement?

Doctor's Answers 1

Whether it is aligner or braces, it's all about force. We are applying force on the teeth to move the teeth in a certain direction, it is quite technical but aligners generally are good moving teeth backwards compared to braces which move teeth towards each other.

That is why when you see an orthodontist for the treatment they say you need the wisdom teeth, we can use the wisdom teeth space to align your teeth to move it backwards. Aligners are good at closing open bites, maybe the front teeth don't meet at all so aligners are good at doing those because of the thickness of the aligners but all these things are very technical so it better to discuss with your orthodontist on your concerns then they can explain to you individually on what they think is best for your child.

How can I get porcelain veneers for my teeth without the need to shave off my teeth?

There are very few situations where there is no need to remove some bulk from the tooth to fit veneers. You have large gaps in between your teeth. Your teeth are already thinned down from previous fillings or acid erosion (you must still have enamel covering the tooth surface for predictable long-term bonding). If BOTH of these criteria exist, then it may be possible to have porcelain veneers without much trimming. Trimming tooth structure for veneers achieves 2 functions: Creates an end-stop for the porcelain to end and to allow easier seating of the veneer.

What are the causes of brown stains on the inside of my teeth?

Stains on the tooth surfaces can be caused by: Dietary substances: tea, coffee, red wine, herbal medicines are common causes of brown tooth discolouration. Tobacco: cigarette smoking, tobacco chewing or betel nut chewing (if tobacco is included) can deposit stains. Chlorhexidine is a common antimicrobial compound added to mouth rinses used after dental surgery. Stains can be kept under control using whitening toothpaste that contain abrasives to polish the surface of the tooth. Professional cleaning also uses abrasives to remove surface stains.
