How do I know what kind of treatment plan or orthodontic system is best for me?

Doctor's Answers 1

Your dentist or orthodontist will be able to advise you.

There is no one correct treatment plan or singular superior orthodontic system because these are just tools in your dentist's toolbox. Selecting the correct tool(s) depends on the case at hand.

What is more important is that you trust your dentist's judgment in selecting the right treatment for you. Very often, what the patient has in mind, may be quite different from what is actually possible. Your dentist has the responsibility to be candid about whether a treatment will be feasible, and to refuse to do treatment that is destined to be unsuccessful.

Thank you for your question. Braces treatment combined with jaw surgery is usually indicated when the malocclusion (bad bite) is a result of malposition teeth and/or malposition jaws. Can dentists remove plaque and food between my teeth if I am wearing braces?

It is possible for your dentist to remove your orthodontic wires before a scale and polish. In this way, the plaque and food in between your teeth can be cleaned. After the cleaning, the wires can be replaced.
