How can I treat a long-standing inflamed bump on my forehead?

Doctor's Answers 2

Looking at the pictures, I do think that this may go more for a prurigo papule or a viral wart than a pimple. It is difficult to tell with certainty from the picture what this lesion is.

I would suggest visiting your dermatologist to get this evaluated. If necessary, this can be removed and sent for histological testing. In the meantime, I would suggest to stop picking and scratching at the bump as this may worsen it.

I’m sorry to hear that you are suffering from this for the last 2 years. From the pictures, it does not seem to by a typical acne cyst. It may not even have been a pimple right from the start.

I would suggest quickly seeing a dermatologist for your condition. There are various ways of removing this lesion which has good cosmetic outcomes. If necessary, he/she may also suggest sending the lesion for further testing depending on your consult.

Hope this helps!

Why are my gums starting to cover up my teeth?

Your problem with gum overgrowing is not an unusual one, and it is usually something that should not be any cause for worry. There could be many reasons why gums overgrow, and I will attempt to list them here in broad categories: 1. Gums overgrowing due to local irritation and inflammation. 2. Gums overgrowing as a side effect of certain medication (for eg anti-convulsants). 3. Gums overgrowing due to some kind of systemic conditions (for eg pregnancy). 4. Gums overgrowing due to benign or cancerous growths.

What should I do next for a cyst on my cheek?

Thanks for the question. I do think that you should see your dermatologist or gp early to get the cyst examined. That is is becoming red and painful is an indication that it may be becoming infected or inflamed. Your doctor will assess to see if antibiotics are required or if drainage or excision of the cyst is necessary.
