Can fillers completely get rid of dark eye circles?

Doctor's Answers 2

When there is only mild to moderate dark eye circles or "eye bags", we can perform dermal fillers with a blunt-tip microcannula to give you a naturally younger and more refreshed look, without the need for surgery.

Dermal fillers can help to lift and fill hollow and sunken areas below the eyes, but may not be able to completely remove your dark circles. What you can expect is partial improvement with the hollow underneath the eyes being softened, wrinkles being filled and your skin appearing plumper and younger.

There is a lower risk of post-treatment bruising or swelling thanks to the use of an innovative flexible microcannula especially designed to give precision during the injection of hyaluronic acid while minimizing discomfort for the patient receiving it. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the question. Dark eye circles are due to a combination of skin pigment, veins under the skin, and hollowness of the cheek under the eye. We see many patients coming to us to troubleshoot hollowness under the eyes, giving a tired appearance. We use a combination of skin fillers to support the bony framework of the cheek and to fill up the sunkeness in that area, also known as the 'tear trough' deformity.

The procedure is done using tiny injections with cannula and needles. There is hardly much downtime associated with the procedure, except for occassional bruising around the eye. The results are quite good and many of my patients are satisfied. This is usually repeated once yearly.

If the pigmentation of the skin is obvious, this can be treated with the Dual Yellow laser, which targets both pigmentation and blood vessels. There is no downtime with this treatment and it needs to be repeated between 6-8 times at monthly intervals.

How effective is fractional Co2 laser vs Infini RF for acne scars?

Good questions! I agree with Dr Chua’s reply on the pros and cons of Fractional CO2 lasers versus Infini RF. In addition, I would like to address your question on the ideal length of time between subcision and Infini RF treatments. The ideal interval between treatments is 4-6 weeks. This is to allow for adequate skin recovery. Hope that this answers your questions!

What is the best treatment for dark eye circles?

Thank you for your question on dark eye circles. I am starting to see increasing numbers of young patients like yourself at my clinic with problems of dark eye circles or eyebags. Indeed, this is a real problem that is not just confined to older patients and I understand the frustrations the come with it. There are numerous causes for dark eye circles - skin pigmentation, thin eyelid skin, prominent orbicularis oculi muscle (muscle under the eyelid skin) , stress and allergies to just list a few. As you can probably start to see, the problem of dark eye circles is actually quite complex.
