Yes, fillers can be done for the upper eyelids.
It is especially done for upper eyelid hollowness caused by 2 main issues:
1. age-related volume loss
2. volume loss related to excess peri-orbital fat removal during previous eyelid surgeries
Administration of fillers of hyaluronic acid (restylane)or calcium hydroxyapatite has been shown to improve the aged appearance caused by the hollowness.
If done right, fillers for upper eyelid hollows is a quick, hassle-free lunch-time procedure. results can be seen almost immediately after treatment, and patients can resume their normal activities with ease.
Side effects are similar to all dermal filler injections. Bruising, local infection, may occur. More serious complications like skin necrosis or nerve damage, and very rarely blindness can also theoretically occur due to the proximity to crucial blood vessels in the region.
This is a techinically challenging area and I would advise seeking a doctor who has experience in injecting fillers in this area.
Hope that helps!
