Are there obvious symptoms for HPV?

Doctor's Answers 1

HPV has both low-risk type and high-risk type.

The low-risk type causes symptoms such as genital warts or itchiness in the genital area, whereas high-risk HPV cause cancer and unfortunately, most of the time there are no obvious symptoms.

That is why it can only be detected through screening for the high-risk types.

How long after conceiving will I begin experiencing the first symptoms?

Most women have a 4-weekly menstrual cycle or thereabouts. When their period is delayed by one week, this is usually the time women start to test themselves to see if they could possibly be pregnant or not. For some women, this is also the earliest time (5 weeks from their last menses) that they can start experiencing some symptoms of early pregnancy which include: Nausea Vomiting Breast tenderness or swelling Tiredness This usually prompts most women to do a self pregnancy test on themselves if they did not initially perform one in the first place.
