Are blisters and rashes on the tip of my finger a sign of eczema?

Doctor's Answers 1

Sometimes you can get a form of eczema on the hand. When you have these blisters or rashes on the hands, there is a type of eczema called dyshidrotic eczema, which affects the hands and feet, presenting with bubbles on the hands.

Sometimes it can be mild, so a few tiny bubbles. In some cases I’ve seen, the bubbles merge and become this very big blister and they can be very uncomfortable and painful for the individual. So, I believe it has to do with the severity and you can consult a doctor who can prescribe topical medications to try and control them.

Are there any other causes for persistent arm rashes besides eczema? (photos)

Thank you for the question. The photo of the rash can go for eczema. The rash in eczema is usually itchy, and aggravated by scratching. Persistent scratching or reaction to certain creams applied can cause the rash to be recurrent or persistent, so your mother should refrain from scratching as far as possible. If the rash is still persistent despite treatment, you may want to consider seeing your doctor/dermatologist to rule out an underlying cause for the persistence, such as a fungal infection or allergic contact dermatitis.

Why does wearing a bracelet cause a rash and blisters on my wrist? (photo)

Thanks for the question. If you develop rash over the bracelet area, it is possible that you may have an allergy to the material of the bracelet e. g. nickel, leather etc. This is called an allergic contact dermatitis. A way to determine if you have a contact allergy is to do a patch test. When doing a patch test, tiny chambers containing different ingredients are placed on the back for up to 48 hours. A reading is done on the following day to see if you have a reaction to a particular ingredient, which will confirm the allergy.
