About Dr Ravishankar K Diddapur
With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Ravishankar K. Diddapur is the founder and Senior Consultant Specialist Surgeon at Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery Singapore (SILS Centre).
Upon his obtainment of his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1986, and the completion of his Master of Surgery (MS, Gen Surg) shortly after, Dr. Ravishankar underwent specialist training in the United Kingdom where he honed his skills in Laparoscopic and Hepatobiliary surgeries, as well as in multiple organ transplantation such as the kidney, liver, pancreas and small bowel. In the UK he completed his CCST in General Surgery with sub-specialty interest in organ transplant, the Hesperis Diploma in Transplantation from the European College of Transplantation, and was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal Colleges of Surgeons.
In 2003, Dr. Ravishankar worked at the Singapore National University Hospital (NUH) in the Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery department as an Associate Consultant and promoted to Consultant shortly after. Concurrently, Dr. Ravishankar also held appointment as a Senior Clinical Lecturer for medical students during his time at NUH.
Launching his private practice at Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital in 2009, Dr. Ravishankar has since been one of the most sought after surgeons, most notably for his experience in laparoscopic abdominal surgeries. In the same year, he also performed successfully the first ever Single Incision Scarless Laparoscopic Appendicectomy in South East Asia and was featured accross multiple media publications such as The Straits Times, The Business Times, and the then popular newspaper The New Paper.
Currently, Dr. Ravishankar continues to be consulted and engaged for both simple and highly complex surgeries for multiple conditions such as liver resection and cyst surgery, acute appendicitis, hernia, gallstones, right and left hemicolectomy, colectomy and pancreatic resections for tumours, bowel obstruction, small bowel adhesiolysis and resection to name a few.
