How is fat grafting performed, and what is the recovery and down time like?

Liposuction is performed to areas of unwanted fats such as ones’ hips, abdomen, thighs (inner and outer), and arms. The unwanted fat is collected and will go through a centrifugation process to separate and remove unwanted components such as blood, water or oil. The remaining fat is then collected and injected to areas such as smile lines, cheeks, lips, dorsum of the hands, breasts and butt. This process is known as fat grafting. It depends on which area we are grafting the fat and one example commonly requested is the buttocks.

What is the recovery process and downtime like after liposuction in Singapore?

thanks for your question! The recovery process and downtime will depend on how extensive the liposuction is and on the individual. Recovery process for full circumferential liposuction If you undergo a full circumferential liposuction (such as liposuction of the whole back, frontal abdomen, hips, outer thighs and inner thighs), the recovery will be slightly longer. The surgery time for such can go up to 4 to 5 hours, done under General Anesthesia in the hospital. A minimum of 1 night stay is recommended.

The best candidates for liposuction are those who still have good skin tone, presents with no stretch marks and skin that still have the capacity to contract a bit, it means good skin elasticity. The best candidate should also be not overweight and have wrong fat distribution (some fat localized in some areas that do not go away with diet). Based on what you have described yourself, it looks like you are a good candidate as you are not overweight but have some fat localized in your tummy.

How safe is liposuction in Singapore?

good question! Liposuction in Singapore is safe. The Ministry of Health has set many regulations to ensure patients' safety. Local patients who are planning to go for liposuction are usually given 7 days “cooling off” period to consider their decision. This period is mandatory for liposuction, because MOH has tightened the rules for invasive cosmetic procedures in 2011. For foreigners this cooling off period doesn’t apply. If you are a foreigner and coming to Singapore to consult for liposuction and want to do it immediately, or the day after, you can get it done.
