What affects the cost of a hair transplant in Singapore?

Hi. Cost of Hair Transplant in Singapore varies from $3 to $10 per graft, depending on the number of grafts required and technology used. Robotic harvesting of donor grafts may cost more than manual hair transplant. Cost per graft should not be the main consideration. In my opinion, transection rate of transplanted hair MUST be taken into consideration above all else. Firstly, your cost per graft in hair transplant would end up higher when the transection rate is high. That means, you will be paying for grafts that either will not grow well or will not survive.

Will hair that is extracted for hair transplantation grow back?

Hi. With vast information readily available online, many patients fall prey to pseudo-medical claims of unlimited donor area. With successful harvesting of hair follicles from donor site during a hair transplant procedure, the entire hair follicle is being removed from the donor site. When these hair follicles are FULLY extracted from the donor area, it is unlikely for the hair to grow back again. Hair regrowth may be possible in the donor site when the hair follicles are not fully harvested. In which case, these hair follicles are transected.

What are possible medical causes for hair loss in a 23 year old male?

Hi. Alopecia or male pattern baldness is responsible for the vast majority of hair loss in men. While there are many possible reasons people lose hair including serious diseases, reaction to certain medications and in rare cases extremely stressful events, most hair loss in men are inherited. What male pattern baldness sufferers are actually inheriting are hair follicles with a genetic sensitivity to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Hair follicles that are sensitive to DHT begin to miniaturise, shortening the lifespan of each hair follicle affected.

How painful is laser tattoo removal?

Hi Ye Xu, Yes I believe laser tattoo may be quite painful. There are many ways to help reduce the pain including numbing cream, ice, painkillers, and even local anaesthesia. Pain can be subjective and we will do our best to reduce it as much as possible.

When is Q switch laser the best treatment for acne scars, and can it be combined with other treatments?

Hi Janice Lim, Q switch laser is mainly good for acne marks/post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Q switch is primarily used for lightening brown marks/pigmentations. It does not really work for depressed scars. Having said that, PIH on the face often disappears over time unless the trauma is repeated. Scars that have depression is best treated with fractional CO2 lasers. This is generally the gold standard considering the downtime, benefits and pain issue. Other treatments like subcision and TCA cross are less popular because of risk/downtime vs. benefit ratio.

Which treatment for acne scars has the best tradeoff between downtime and effectiveness? (photo)

The main gold standard for acne scars has still been fractional CO2 laser for the longest time. This is generally agreed upon by many doctors. We have tried many treatments for acne scars and general. The downtime is about 2-4 days of redness and another 2-3 days of fine scabbing. I am not supposed to say that microneedling helps acne scars because there is supposed to be no clear medical evidence that it works but in the past when microneedling was not regulated, I do see results although it depends on the needle depth and the number of treatments.

How can I treat loose and saggy skin at my tummy after childbirth?

Loose and saggy skin around the tummy are extremely difficult to treat generally. If there is lots of redundant skin overhanging in the abdomen then tummy tuck may be the solution but if the skin is more crumped with lines, then thermage CPT may be a possible treatment. Either way, its always good to come in and have the doctor have a look and give you the appropriate advise as its very hard to tell what loose and saggy means to you. Hope that helps. Thks.

How do I treat a yeast infection?

Hi,No egocort and gentriderm may not be the most suitable for yeast infection. Treatment really depends on whether the yeast infection is recurrent and the symptoms severe or mild. Generally if the yeast infection is mild to moderate, anti fungal cream like butoconazole, clotrimazole, miconazole, and terconazole can be used. Otherwise you can use suppositories 1, 3 or 7 day course. For more recurrent or severe yeast infection, oral antifungal course of up to 14 days can be used. Sometimes doctors will also put you on a maintenance of once a week oral fluconazole tablets for 6 months.

Can tattoos be completely removed in 1 session?

No tattoos cannot be removed in one session. The colour, the amount of ink and the depth/layer of tattoo used determines how fast tattoos can be removed. Your body clearance and the ability to heal or risk of getting hypertrophic scarring certainly plays a part in tattoo removal. The reason why it needs multiple sessions is because of increased risk of scarring with each increased power. A experienced doctor will know how to determine what power to use to manage tattoo removal with the power used.

What are the best treatment options for upper lip protrusion due to fat tissue around the lips? (photo)

I have not heard of any upper lip surgery for the lips. Liposuction for lip fats in the lips is not advisable due to the small amount of fats and the extreme difficulty in managing symmetry with such small amounts of fats. Many a times, upper lip protrusion may be due to the lower lip being to small relative to the upper lip or other features of the face so simple HA fillers to make the other features more proportion and relative to the overall may give you more satisfactory result. Seek a doctor with experience and understand proportionality of the face. Hope that helps!

What is the best treatment for acne scars if I still have acne outbreaks? (photo)

Yes you are a very typical case of patient we see all the time. Someone who went to a hard-sell non medical salon for acne treatment - it's not surprising that you got no results. Oral medications like isotretinoin often will give results but there must be follow up management because acne issues are often a constant and chronic problem depending on lifestyle and many external factors. The tricky part is that before you treat acne scars, active acne must be controlled or new scars will be formed.

How can I prevent breakouts after Infini RF Microneedling or Fractional CO2 lasers?

The usual methods to control active acne in between fractional CO2 laser or Infini RF microneedling should be applied similarly. This will include using anti acne topicals, medical peels and even medications to control your acne if severe. The treatment should be stopped till your active acne is well controlled before starting the treatment for scars again. It will make no sense to treat scars when there is new acne leading to more scars.
