About Dr James Wong
Dr James Wong is a Consultant Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon with over 40 years of specialist practice experience. He practices at The Heart Lung & Vascular Surgical Centre, Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, Singapore.
He received his MBBS from Monash University in 1977 and completed his training in general surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and Royal Melbourne Hospital as well as his training in cardiothoracic surgery at the National University Hospital Singapore. Subsequently, Dr. Wong went on to attain his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at New York Medical Centre and fellowship in arrhythmic surgery at Washington University School of Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCS) and Academy of Medicine of Singapore (FAMS).
Dr. Wong was previously the Chairman of Singapore’s Academy of Medicine’s Cardiovascular Surgery Department and Vice Chairman of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Division. He was a visiting consultant cardiothoracic surgeon at Singapore National Heart Centre (1995-2005), National University Hospital Singapore (2004-2011), and visiting professor of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery at the University of Texas Medical School in the United States.
Outside his clinical practice, Dr. Wong is also contributes to train cardiothoracic surgeons in several countries, such as Japan, Thailand, Greater China, Taiwan and Australia, especially in Atrial Fibrillation Surgery and Cardiac Surgery. He actively conducts workshops and lectures at local and international medical conferences.
